Artists: Amanda Gleason & Liz Payne
Amanda Gleason – Amanda has been painting and drawing for over five years. She enjoys working with oils across portraiture, still life and landscapes subject matter, as well as drawing. Most recently she has been pursuing plein air painting of local landscapes at the many beautiful locations around Auckland, a practice that has brought an extra dimension to her more formal studio works.
In 2019 she received 3rd prize at the Howick Art Group Mid-Winter Exhibition for two categories. Oil painting and Dry Art (drawing) and in 2020 received a Merit for oil painting. One of her recent abstract paintings was selected by Auckland City Rail Link as one of seven works to decorate the boardings of the Mt Eden train station works for the CRL project.
Liz Payne – Liz is an amateur artist living in the Eastern Suburbs. She paints in oils and has attended classes at Uxbridge Centre where she studied with resident artist Alvin Xiong.
Her preference is for local landscape, with an emphasis on local coastline and waterways. She also has a keen interest in the local birdlife and has painted a series of birds. She has won a Merit Award for her painting of the Karearea, NZ Falcon, at the Howick Mid-Winter Exhibition in 2019.
